How was your first year being on the job?
This is my second ‘official’ job after I graduated. Though I have some work experience before Setia, it was in a different industry and I know I have a lot of learning to do to catch up. I was put through probation for three months, and it was very exciting as I learnt a lot of new things.
I took the opportunity to ask a lot of questions and my colleagues patiently and generously offered me valuable pieces of advice. After probation, I encourage myself to do work on things on my own but I never fail to ask for advice whenever needed.
What do you do at work?
Working in Sales & Marketing requires me to promote our products and services to customers. We are also encouraged to approach potential customers with the aim of securing new business, to maintain good relationships with existing clients and to gain repeat business whenever possible. Other than that, I am currently handling the responsibility of managing the communication with relevant authorities for our projects. I really enjoy my work because I like to communicate with different people and it helps improve my confidence level.
What do you like most about your job?
What I like the most about my job is the working environment as there is a positive vibe around the company. Working around a group of people with high team spirit motivates me to be better, to be on par with my colleagues and to improve my level of confidence.
Name three (3) things to watch out for!
- Always communicating with a sense of empathy.
- Having the courage to approach new challenges while being self-motivated
- Being knowledgeable in any given situation
What is it like to work in your company?
For me, working with S P Setia is very exciting because it gives equal opportunities to everyone to continuously learn and grow, as we strive to deliver the best. It is in line with our company’s vision – to be the best in all we do.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
The only advice I would give to my younger self is to never regret anything I do, because that is the only way to learn and to know my limits. Nobody is perfect, so I just keep on challenging myself to be the best I can be.
